Art About Town, sponsored by River Valley Artists Guild, will present: “Winter Spirits” December 3, 2019 - February 21, 2020 Included in this exhibit are works of art that celebrate the visual beauty of winter and those cold wintry days when snow fills the air and icicles glisten in the sun. Curl up by the fire and celebrate this winter season with beautiful winter themed art! Art About Town Curator: Susan Miiller says: “This exhibition is a beautiful celebration of creativity by the artists to start off the winter season”.
NEW! Gio’s Gelato Cafe: Winter- themed works by RVAG Member Artists including: Daniela Cooney takes her inspiration from her home in the Hudson Valley, painting in water soluble oils and acrylics. Judith Cramer says of her work: “I work in acrylics, pastel and pencil and my style ranges from Impressionism to the Abstract.” and Joan Kehlenbeck, President of the RVAG, who shows her pastels and paintings regionally.
NEW! At Port Jervis Free Library: Rena Hottinger’s paintings and photography on canvas. Now living in the beautiful Poconos, Rena utilizes multiple mediums for free-style self-expression including watercolor, acrylic, soft pastel, charcoal, clay, collage and floral design. Appreciating Buddhist philosophy, she explains that “creating art” is a virtue of wholesomeness, an exploration of truth, and contributes to a meaningful life that benefits all.
NEW! Bon Secours: Susan Miiller’s winter-themed oils on canvas. Art About Town Curator Susan Miiller’s oil on canvas works are included in many important public and private collections. She received OCAC’s Community Arts Grant in 2018, Artists Fellowship Awards in 2016 and 2017, and Orange Arts Grants in 2016, 2014 and 2009. Susan received an M.F.A. degree in 1992 and has been teaching faculty at SUNY since 1999.
NEW! At Deerpark Town Hall: Joan Kehlenbeck’s winter themed works. President of the River Valley Artists Guild, Joan has shown her oil paintings and pastel drawings regionally and includes important local, historic buildings and scenes in her work. In 2016, Joan was awarded the Individual Artist, Orange County Art Award.
