Lauryn de Leeuw describes herself as an “Artist, Creator and Free Spirit”. Of her acrylic paintings she adamantly believes that “art, like love, cannot be defined, it comes from a passion within; it cannot come from a formula or a set of predefined conditions”. Lauryn de Leeuw is often referred to as an Abstract Expressionist artist because of the Willem de Kooning influence in many of her paintings. Her style can vary, but her influence can be easily determined: Japanese Edo art, Titian, Cezanne, van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso and de Kooning. Her sensuous designs are bold in composition, always a little different, and vibrant in color. A member of the Chelsea Arts Club (London) and the New York Students Art League, she has exhibited in Amsterdam, London and New York and her art is owned worldwide.
